Johan Manzambi scores only goal as Aston Villa squeaks past Newcastle

• Johan Manzambi scored the only goal of the game as Aston Villa secured a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
• The 36th-minute header was Manzambi’s second Premier League goal of the season, coming against a Newcastle side he almost joined during the summer.
• Both teams created chances in a feisty encounter, with Newcastle's Sven Botman surviving a VAR check for a potential red card and Emiliano Buendia hitting the post for Villa.
• Newcastle pressed for a second-half equaliser through Yoane Wissa and Will Osula, but the visitors held on to claim all three points.
• The result lifts Aston Villa to 12th in the Premier League table, while Newcastle slip to back-to-back league defeats.
