Johan Setia logs highest API reading nationwide

SHAH ALAM, Sept 16 - A total of 38 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 2pm today, with six areas in Selangor among those affected.

According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, Johan Setia recorded the highest API reading at 184. 

Other areas in Selangor also recorded unhealthy air quality levels namely; Shah Alam (172), Petaling Jaya (166), Klang (162), Banting (162) and Kuala Selangor (161).

Johan Setia also recorded the highest API reading nationwide, followed by Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (177), Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (173), Putrajaya (172).

The number of areas with unhealthy readings also saw a reduction for the 2pm update when compared to 40 areas recording unhealthy levels as of 10am the same day. 

The portal also showed 25 areas with moderate API readings and five areas with good air quality levels nationwide. 

On the API, a reading of 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 300 is hazardous.

The public is advised to take precautions and reduce prolonged outdoor activities, especially individuals who are more sensitive to the effects of poor air quality.
