Johan Setia only Selangor area with unhealthy air quality

SHAH ALAM, Sept 11 - Johan Setia was the only area in Selangor recording an unhealthy air quality level this evening, while other monitored areas remained at moderate levels as of 4pm

According to data from the Environment Department’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Kuala Selangor and Shah Alam both recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 78, followed by Klang (69), Petaling Jaya (68) and Banting (65).

Air quality remained unhealthy across several areas in Sarawak, including Samarahan (185), Sri Aman (183), Kuching (182), Sarikei (160), Samalaju (159), Sibu (157), Bintulu (156), Mukah (155), Miri (152) and ILP Miri (147).

Serian in Sarawak was the only area with a very unhealthy API reading of 218.

A total of 12 areas recorded unhealthy readings, while 46 had moderate and nine had good API levels.

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while a reading above 300 is hazardous.

The public is advised to remain alert to changes in air quality and take necessary precautionary measures, particularly when API readings deteriorate.
