SHAH ALAM, Sept 21 - A total of 19 stations nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of noon today, including two stations in Selangor.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Johan Setia recorded an API reading of 153, while Shah Alam registered 132, placing both areas in the unhealthy category.
As of 12pm today, Sarawak recorded the highest API readings nationwide, with Kapit recording 170, followed by IPD Serian (167), Sri Aman (161), Bintulu (159) and Sibu (159).
In the Klang Valley, Putrajaya recorded an API reading of 171, while Cheras and Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur recorded readings of 165 and 162 respectively.
The portal also recorded 43 stations with moderate API readings, including four areas in Selangor - Banting (98), Petaling Jaya (89), Klang (89) and Kuala Selangor (74).
Six areas nationwide recorded good air quality, with Kangar, Perlis recording the highest reading at 49, followed by Tasek Ipoh (46) and Seri Manjung (44) in Perak, Balik Pulau, Penang (37), Besut, Terengganu (36), and Langkawi, Kedah (35).
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are hazardous.
