Seventeen areas nationwide record unhealthy API readings, with Kapit and Serian hitting a high of 167 amid worsening air quality
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 17 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9 am today.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Kapit and Serian IPD in Sarawak recorded the highest readings at 167, while two other areas in the state also recorded unhealthy API readings: Sri Aman (161) and Bintulu (159).
Other areas in Sarawak with unhealthy air quality were Miri (157), Samarahan (157), Sibu (156), Miri ILP (139) and Limbang (102).
Putrajaya and Nilai (Negeri Sembilan) each recorded 157, followed by Seremban (154), Politeknik Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (153), Bukit Rambai, Melaka (151) and Shah Alam, Selangor (149).
Unhealthy API readings were also recorded in Tangkak, Johor (107) and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (104).
Meanwhile, 41 areas recorded moderate readings, while six areas recorded good readings.
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous).
