More than 1.5 million voters have cast their ballots in the Johor state election, with Semarang leading at 66.1% turnout as of 3pm.

JOHOR BAHRU: A total of 1,522,961 voters, or 56.77 per cent of the more than 2.6 million eligible voters, had cast their ballots in the 16th Johor State Election as of 3 pm today.

According to the Election Commission (EC), the Semarang state constituency recorded the highest voter turnout at 66.1 per cent, followed by Sri Medan (64.4 per cent) and Penawar (64.2 per cent).

In contrast, Penggaram recorded the lowest turnout at 48.8 per cent, followed by Bentayan (49.0 per cent) and Perling (50.3 per cent).

The EC shared the voter turnout figures in a post on its official Facebook page.

For comparison, voter turnout at the same time during the 15th Johor State Election stood at 45.39 per cent, representing 1,168,809 of more than 2.57 million registered voters.
