JOHOR BAHRU - The biggest challenge facing Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Johor state election is not winning over voters, but ensuring they turn up to cast their ballots, says Amanah deputy president Datuk Adly Zahari.

Adly urged Johoreans not to give up on voting despite facing long queues or traffic congestion at polling centres, reminding them that their votes would determine the future direction of the state and the country.

He said some voters could become discouraged when faced with delays at polling stations, with some choosing to leave without casting their ballots.

“Sometimes people get stuck in traffic jams and when they see the queue, they keep looking at the time and eventually decide to go home. I often meet voters like this.

“Even when they have already queued at the polling centre and see the long line, they become tired and leave. But I hope tomorrow they will not do that," he said in a ceramah held in Cedar Point Food Centre.

Adly said voting was not merely about choosing a political party or candidate, but about exercising the people’s power to shape their own future.

“This is not only about politics, but about our future in Malaysia and the future of Johor. That is why our vote tomorrow is about our future,” he said.

He added that the election provided Johoreans with an important opportunity to make their voices heard, stressing that democracy was strongest when citizens actively participated in the electoral process.

“I always say that the greatest power in democracy is the power of the people,” he said.

Election Commision has set July 11 as the polling day for Johor State Elections, with voting scheduled to begin as early as 8 am at designated polling centres across the state.
