SHAH ALAM – MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has rejected claims that Perikatan Nasional (PN) is assisting Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 16th Johor state election, saying the existence of four three-cornered contests involving BN, Pakatan Harapan (PH) and PN clearly disproves the allegation.

Ka Siong said the four MCA-held seats under the BN banner – Jementah, Paloh, Layang-Layang and Stulang – are all being contested by candidates from BN, PH and PN.

"The four BN-MCA seats in this Johor state election, namely Jementah, Paloh, Layang-Layang and Stulang, are facing three-cornered contests against PH and PN.

"That alone is enough to answer PH-DAP's allegation that 'PN is helping BN'.

"Yesterday, I attended a talk in N02 Jementah to campaign for BN candidate See Ann Giap, who is contesting against DAP and Pas. If MCA had been given an easy path by PN, why would our candidate have to face both PH and PN?," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Ka Siong also dismissed claims that defeated MCA candidates could later be appointed as nominated state assemblymen or members of the Johor State Executive Council (Exco), describing the allegation as unfounded and contrary to the Johor State Constitution.

"Spreading such fairy tales may appear interesting and sensational, but it cannot change the facts and reality," he said.

The ceramah was attended by Johor BN chairman and Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, together with BN Buloh Kasap candidate Datuk Zahari Sarip.

During his speech, Ka Siong praised Onn Hafiz's leadership, saying he had ensured Johor remained on the path of development and economic growth since taking office in 2022.

He also called on voters in Jementah to support BN candidate See Ann Giap to ensure the state's development agenda continues.
