BATU PAHAT - Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Senggarang state seat Onn Abu Bakar has alleged a "phantom voter" incident at a polling centre in the constituency today.
Onn said the issue was detected at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Senggarang at about 10.30am.
He claimed he was informed that a voter was unable to cast his ballot after discovering that his name had allegedly been used by another individual.
Following the incident, Onn urged the Election Commission to ensure that all eligible voters, particularly those in the Senggarang constituency, are able to exercise their voting rights.
"I urge the public to vote as early as possible and ensure that your vote remains secure and is not used by someone else," he said in a video uploaded to his Facebook page.
Onn added that the 25-year-old male voter lodged a police report at the Senggarang Police Station at about 11am regarding the allegation, allowing the authorities to take further action.
In the state election, Onn is involved in a three-cornered contest against incumbent Mohd Yusla Ismail of Barisan Nasional and Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon of Perikatan Nasional (PN-Bersatu). - BERNAMA
