KULAI: Voter turnout for the 16th Johor state election reached 7.97% as of 9am today, with 213,878 of the 2,682,642 registered voters having cast their ballots.
According to the Election Commission (EC), the three state constituencies (N) with the highest voter turnout were N.29 Mahkota at 15.8%, followed by N.39 Tanjung Surat at 14.7% and N.35 Pasir Raja at 13.6%.
Meanwhile, the constituencies recording the lowest voter turnout as of 9am were N.56 Kukup at 7.6%, followed by N.12 Bentayan and N.13 Simpang Jeram, both at 7.7%.
For comparison, during the 15th Johor state election in 2022, voter turnout as of 9am stood at 6.35%, with 163,553 of the 2,574,835 registered voters having cast their ballots.
The Johor state election involves 172 candidates representing eight political parties and coalitions, as well as independents, contesting all 56 seats in the Johor State Legislative Assembly.
The election was called following the dissolution of the 15th Johor State Legislative Assembly on 1 June.
