PAS Johor will not be issuing any comments or statements on the outcome of the Johor state election tonight, as the party waits for the official results to be announced.
Johor PAS information chief Mohd Firdaus Jaffar said the decision was made following instructions from the party leadership.
“No comments or statements will be issued tonight. All parties are requested to wait until the official and complete results are announced,” he said in a statement today.
Firdaus also thanked members of the media for their presence, patience and cooperation throughout their coverage at the party’s operations centre.
The decision comes as Perikatan Nasional (PN) is believed to have suffered losses across all seats it contested, including failing to retain the state seats of Bukit Kepong, Maharani and Endau — constituencies won by the coalition in the 2022 Johor election.
The unofficial count, based on near-complete tallying from polling streams in the constituencies, showed PN trailing in the three seats as of 8.50pm.
PAS Johor had fielded 11 candidates in the election, with nine of them making their electoral debut.
Only two candidates had contested in previous elections, although both were moved to different state seats for this election.
The PAS candidates were Saifullah Abdul Wahab (Jementah), Normala Sudirman (Tenang), Arshed Yahya @ Awang (Simpang Jeram), Mohamad Anuar Hayan (Maharani), Muhammad Amin Sailan (Sungai Balang), Halim Kepol (Semerah), Ahmad Rosdi Baharu (Seri Medan), Hasnol Hakim Hussein (Endau), Yuhanita Yunan (Pasir Raja), Khirul Mutanazar Ismail (Tiram) and Mazlan Bujang (Kahang).
