A youth leader from a political party in Johor is anticipated to face charges tomorrow regarding alleged sexual assaults involving several teenage boys. Mersing police chief, Abdul Razak Abdullah, disclosed that investigation papers have been forwarded to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office, with the case slated for court presentation on the following day.

The suspect is expected to be charged at the Kota Tinggi court under Section 377C of the Penal Code for allegedly committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent. This offense carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in jail and whipping upon conviction.

The case came to light through a police report that has since circulated widely on social media. The report detailed three police complaints involving four victims, all of whom were reportedly regularly taken by the suspect to participate in volunteer programs. These programs were often affiliated with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), indicating a level of trust and authority the suspect may have exploited.

The police report also mentioned that the suspect was detained on March 19 from his residence and was remanded from March 19 to 21 for further investigations. Additionally, two more police reports were lodged by two victims earlier yesterday, bringing the total to five reports involving six victims.

Despite calls for the issue not to be prolonged, including from his party president, the youth leader remains defiant, stating that he will persist in calling for a boycott of KK Mart convenience stores over the sale of socks bearing the word “Allah.” He claims his actions are not driven by political motives but rather a desire to defend Islam against perceived insults.

This case underscores the importance of vigilance and swift action in addressing instances of sexual assault, particularly when minors are involved. It also highlights the need for robust reporting mechanisms and support systems for victims to come forward without fear of retribution or stigma.
