Johor water village fire destroys 30 homes

A major fire has gutted 30 houses in a Johor water village, destroying most structures and damaging vehicles and boats, with no casualties reported.

JOHOR BAHRU: A fire has destroyed 30 houses in a water village near Kampung Teluk Jawa here.

Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Station chief Firdaus Ahmad said the department received an emergency call at 7.04 am.

A total of 28 personnel in three engines were deployed to the scene.

The fire affected temporary structures built with wooden walls, zinc roofing and plank flooring.

“The fire destroyed about 90 per cent of the 30 houses and also damaged two boats, a car and six motorcycles,” Firdaus said in a statement.

He confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident.
