Joining TSG a dream come true for Indonesian ace rider Aiman

KUALA TERENGGANU – After dreaming of joining the Terengganu Polygon Cycling Team (TSG) for over a decade, riding with the Asian champions this season will certainly be a dream come true, said Bandung cyclist Aiman Cahyadi.

Aiman, the national champion of Indonesia in 2022, will be teaming up with his idol Mohd Harrif Salleh, who made history as Malaysia’s first rider to win the overall podium title of the Tour du Rwanda’s last season.

Aiman said he has been shadowing the development of TSG since its establishment in 2011, with ambitions to join the continental team one day.

“Thank you TSG for giving me the opportunity to be with the best team in Asia. I started following the development of TSG, especially Harrif Saleh, from the age of 14.

“Since then, I have persevered to ensure that one day I can partner with him in the same team,” he said when contacted here.

Aiman, who specialises in mountain-climbing techniques, said that as a newcomer, he is determined to chalk up as many points as possible to help TSG emerge as the continent’s best team this year.

According to him, the mission can be achieved with teamwork and precision planning, and he already anticipates setting new records in his wake.

“This is not an impossible mission because TSG won it in 2019. I will try hard to contribute points in every competition I race in,” he said.

Aiman is one of TSG’s five new faces this season, alongside Jesse Ewart, Zuladri Amin Zulkurnain, Kee Zhe Yie, and Muhammad Shahmir Aiman Abd Halim.

He is now undergoing two weeks of centralised training with 15 teammates in preparation for the first race of the season at the end of January. – Bernama, January 17, 2023
