I understand from the organizer: garmin.com.my that “What began as a regional movement has grown into something far greater. Formerly known as the Garmin Run Marathon Series, the platform has expanded beyond Asia, now welcoming three cities in the United States to the calendar. With this exciting evolution, the series enters a new chapter as the Garmin Run Marathon Series. It celebrates community, connection, and the joy of running. Designed by runners, for runners, each race blends competition with an energetic and welcome atmosphere - bringing together athletes of all levels to run, challenge themselves and celebrate the sport they love. It now spans major running communities across Asia and the US, bringing together elite, amateurs & first-time participants.”

My wife, Zarina and I are proud that our two sons, Farouq & Fariz participated in the 10 km category of 2026 Garmin Run Marathon Putrajaya on 1 November, and won the medals for being the 1st 300 runners that completed the race within classified time under one unified banner of performance & perseverance. They strengthened the global community for relentless pursuit of excellence. In Asia, Garmin organized the marathon run in Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan. Now expanding to Durham, Toledo & Tucson in USA.

Fariz said “A 10 km (6.2 miles) run serves as an optimal ‘sweet spot’ in endurance exercise, typically lasting 45 minutes and delivering major cardiovascular, metabolic, and mental health benefits without the extreme physical toll of a half marathon of 21 km. The physical & physiological benefits strengthens the heart muscle, improves blood circulation, and lower blood pressure. It pushes my aerobic system into high gear, increasing my body's ability to consume oxygen efficiently. It helps manage symptoms of anxiety & depression, improving my work memory & mental sharpness.”
