- His team, Visma-Lease a Bike, stated that the delayed start to his training means he cannot reach top form in time for the remaining autumn races, prompting him to focus on preparing for the 2027 season.
- The crash occurred just hours after Vingegaard was subjected to a highly unusual 2am anti-doping test, a timing that was heavily criticised by fellow competitors including Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel.
- Prior to his injury, Vingegaard enjoyed a highly successful campaign by winning Paris-Nice, the Volta a Catalunya, and the Giro d'Italia, becoming only the eighth male cyclist in history to complete a career set of Grand Tour victories.
