
Two men died on Wednesday morning as the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell onto a road below near Parihar in Chamba district.
The accident occurred on the Chamba-Pathankot highway. Both occupants died on the spot.
Lakhan and Ankush, both aged 30, were residents of Saru village on the outskirts of Chamba.
According to preliminary information, the two men had left home early in the morning and were travelling to Kangra to appear in an examination when the mishap occurred.
Locals started a rescue operation. A police team also reached the site.
Police said the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Preliminary findings suggest that the vehicle skidded off the road before crashing onto the road below.
A case has been registered and an inquiry initiated. Investigators are examining whether speeding, road condition, mechanical failure or any other factor contributed to the accident.
