
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Joyce Heng Shu Xia (pic) captured her fourth Malaysian Strongest Women’s open title at the Kompleks D’Star Arena Sports Centre in Ampang on Saturday.
She accumulated a total of 17 points to take home the RM2,500 cash prize and in second place was Nur Athirah Hee Abdullah of Johor with 14 points and third place went to Sarawak’s Syhra Philip with 10 points.
The 38-year-old, who was delighted to win her final title of the year, also revealed that she was presented with a special plaque as the top ranked strongest woman in the country for the past eight years.
Joyce first won the national title in 2019 and there was no competition in 2020 to 2022 due to pandemic before she continued to rule the competition after it resumed in 2023.
Throughout her eight-year career, she has won a total of 31 golds, two silvers and one bronze.
Meanwhile, only two athletes from Sabah took part in the competition on Saturday and Alder Ferrel Ijap competing in the men’s Under-80kg finished in ninth place.
