KUALA LUMPUR - The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has denied issuing or using the vehicle registration index series ‘EE’ as circulated on social media.

Its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the department has never issued, introduced or approved the ‘EE’ vehicle registration index series.

"The approval letter circulating on social media is fake and constitutes a form of fraud that has the potential to confuse and deceive the public.

"Preliminary investigations found that irresponsible parties unlawfully used the format and identity of official JPJ correspondence, including letterheads, writing style, and layout that look like real department documents,” he said in a statement today.

Aedy Fadly said these actions have caused confusion among the public and undermined the department’s credibility.

The department has lodged a police report to enable further investigations into the matter.

"JPJ would like to remind the public to always remain vigilant, not to be easily deceived by any offers or information related to dubious vehicle registration numbers, and to always verify through official channels to avoid becoming victims of fraud,” he said. - BERNAMA
