Kota Kinabalu: JS Gym are targeting at least three titles at the Mr Sabah 2023 Bodybuilding and Physique Championship to be held at KDCA Hongkod Hall, Penampang on September 15.
Its manager Kulkarni Jastine said they will be represented by 10 athletes and hope to do better than last year when they won only one title through Lily Ahmad in the women’s physique category.
According to him, Lily who went on to take the titles at the National (Mr Malaysia) and International (NABBA) Championship last year will defend her title this year.
The other members in the team are Kim Aziz (Lightweight), Hisham Dzid (Physique), Reynold Kok (Physique), Jackson Wong (Physique), Yakob Mengkabong (Masters), Kamal Ariffin (Physique).

He also said some of the athletes who had earlier set to take part were forced to drop out due to the change of date.
“We were planning to send more competitors this year but because of the new competition date which was originally scheduled in June, some of them have to drop out due to financial reasons as in bodybuilding contests, diet is very costly,” he said.
Meanwhile, some 100 bodybuilders in the State are set to take part in the competition.
Sabah Bodybuilding Association president Joannes Staneslouse had earlier said that 16 categories will be contested.
The tournament will serve as a platform to select athletes to represent Sabah at the 52nd Mr Malaysia Bodybuilding and Physique Championship which will be held in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 12-15.
