
DEFENDING champion University of Perpetual Help System Dalta needed just one hour and eight minutes to record their first win in Season 101 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) boys volleyball tournament at the Arellano University gym in Pasay City on Monday.
The Sandy Rieta-coached Junior Altas walked away with an easy 25-14, 25-19, 25-11 win against the Emilio Aguinaldo College Brigadiers.
Palarong Pambansa standout Daryll Torio scored 15 points, including four service aces, for the Junior Altas.
Season 100 Finals Most Valuable Player John Lat contributed 9 points, Limuel Valderama added 8 points and Gabriel Macatuno scored 6 points to back the offensive efforts of Torio.
Opposite hitter Justine Castro led the way for the Brigadiers with 9 points, 8 of which were on attack.
In the other games, Season 100 finalist Letran won over Jose Rizal University, 27-25, 25-21, 25-17, Mapua outplayed San Beda, 25-23, 25-21, 25-21 and Arellano University demolished La Salle Greenhills 25-9, 25-17, 25-19.
