University of Perpetual Help System Dalta has bolstered its lineup for Season 102 of the NCAA juniors basketball tournament which begins in September.
The Junior Altas claimed the championship in Season 100 but failed to make the semifinal round last year.
For the upcoming season, head coach Joph Cleopas made sure the team will be strong enough to contend for the crown anew by recruiting 6-foot-5 Max Maurice and 6-foot-3 Daniel Okeowo, both from the United Kingdom. Also from Europe is Adrian Faustino who had resided in Austria.
Rising stars from the provinces were inserted in the lineup as well in Sizco Koquid, Keith Sabuco, Brian Orca Jr. and Kevin Castro.
Cleopas said that the addition of seven new talents to the training pool is a vital part of their rebuilding process for the upcoming NCAA tournament.
He also noted that the team’s core players - Jim Corpuz, Kurt Velasquez, and Renzo Zanoria - are now with Perpetual Help’s seniors team.
Returning for the team this year are Louie Rosales, Kurt Patalinghug, Ezekiel Zamoras, Lord Dulanas, Arkin Cristobal, Sam Villaruel, John Restificar Francis Rosales and Josh Saga.
Last year, the Las Piñas-based team concluded its elimination run with a mediocre 6-7 win-loss record.
This time, Cleopas is confident the team will achieve better success.
