Kota Kinabalu: Sabah finished sixth overall with six points at the 44th Milo Malaysia Junior & Cadet Table Tennis Championships 2026 at Maksak Hall on Sunday.
The State team secured two bronze medals – one from Shearil Aizat Amat and Zambil Najih Zaini in the boys’ Under-19 doubles, and another from Jane Vun Jue En and Elcy Christygina in the girls’ Under-15 doubles.
Additionally, Lau En Yu achieved a top-10 finish, placing fifth in the girls’ Under-19 category.
Meanwhile, Penang emerged as the overall champions with 20 points, securing a haul of five gold, five silver and six bronze medals.
Kuala Lumpur claimed the runners-up spot just three points behind, finishing with four golds, three silvers and six bronzes, while Selangor took third place with 12 points from three golds, one silver and four bronzes.
More than 500 players from across the nation participated in the five-day tournament organised by the Sabah Table Tennis Association.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, while Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun presided over the closing ceremony on Sunday.
