Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC II boosted by the presence of Daniel Ting, Saddil Ramdani, Park Taesu and Jafri Chew thrashed PDRM FC 5-2 in the MFL Cup match held at Likas Stadium on Saturday night.

The four senior players suspended for the Kedah Darul Aman FC match were available to play for the junior team.

However, it was the visitors who opened the scoring first in the 20th minute through Zazir Naim before Park Taesu drew the hosts level eight minutes later and Jafri Chew scored his first of the night in the 45th minute.

Jafri then netted his second in the 61st minute before completing his hat-trick in the 66th minute.

The fifth goal was scored by Fakrul Iman in the 81st minute, while Zazir was able to reduce the deficit two minutes from full time.

It was only the third win for Sabah FC II this season, and they will end the season with another home game against Negeri Sembilan U23 tonight (Monday).

Head coach Billyton Vun said the decision to rotate the squad was spot on following the last match against the Terengganu FC Under-23 team on April 8.

“The rotation has proven to have a positive and effective impact against very strong opponents.

“We were able to maintain the intensity, whether it’s defensively or offensively, and the presence of four senior players also greatly helped in the success,” he said.

He is confident that the team will get another victory if they can maintain their momentum in the final match against Negeri Sembilan FC II at Likas Stadium tonight.

Meanwhile, he expressed his gratitude to team manager Datuk Abdul Kassim Razali, deputy team manager I Datuk George Teo and the management team as well as all the coaches and players for their support throughout the season.
