Justin Thomas might not win the PGA Championship this year, but his final round 65 at Aronimink will give him huge belief moving forward.

Thomas hasn’t shown his best form since returning to action back in March after undergoing back surgery in November.

However, the 32-year-old from Kentucky burst back into life at the PGA Championship this week.

Justin Thomas shot a scintillating 65 on Sunday at Aronimink and amazingly, he still has an outside shot of winning the PGA Championship.

However, the general consensus is that Thomas may end up one or two shots shy.

Thomas has shown some serious encouraging signs at Aronimink this week, and he will really believe that his best golf may well lie ahead of him now.

Thomas holed a key 10 foot putt for par on the 18th hole on Sunday.

While his 65 might not be enough to get the job done, he will still be hugely proud of his efforts.

The two-time major champion spoke to reporters after his final round and responded when asked whether he believes he has any chance at all of winning the tournament.

I have no idea, Thomas said.

I hope so. I mean, I told Rev on 18, we did our part.

It’s going to be tough. The thing I had going for me at Southern Hills was I didn’t have many people between me and the lead, and that is not the case this week. There is a lot.

I definitely need some wind. I need a little bit of help. Again, I did my part, and I’m happy to wait, trust me.

Justin Thomas says what the leaders can expect from Aronimink on Sunday

Thomas responded when asked about the setup of the golf course at Aronimink on Sunday.

Hopefully the rest of the golf course. Every single hole, I hope it’s very tough to make pars, if I’m being honest.

I don’t know, I felt the same — obviously the first three days, I mean, the wind, it was nice to play some holes in not 25-mile-an-hour wind today selfishly. But it’s just weird, you have so many scoring clubs, like you really can make — I feel like you can make a lot of birdies, you just have to hit a really, really good shot.

And it’s very tough around the greens, and the greens are difficult to where, you know, you have to be putting it well.

I feel like it’s all about getting in the fairway. The ball’s going a long way. You have some short clubs, but you definitely have some opportunities on the back nine, but you also have some holes that, if you miss the fairway, you’re grinding to make par.

The course has plenty of gettable pins but many hole locations are placed in some treacherous spots.

Whoever goes on to win the tournament will have to seriously golf their ball on the back nine.
