Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has been handed a seven-month playing ban for illegal betting.

Rated among the best players of his generation, Fagioli was effectively given a 12-month sentence, though the further five months will be covered by education and public appearances.

Fagioli will face six months of treatment for gambling addiction, confirmed FIGC.

The midfielder will also make 10 public appearances to discuss his situation and educate others about his experience.

Fagioli will also be fined of 12,500 for breaching Article 24 of the sporting justice code, which bans betting on football events organised by the FIGC, UEFA or FIFA.
