Manchester United went with Casemiro over new Juventus signing Leandro Paredes last month.
PSG wanted to sell Paredes and contacted United to see if they were keen.
But the Red Devils decided to pursue other targets and signed Casemiro instead, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Manchester giants were in dire need of reinforcement in midfield after losing Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, before managing to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid.
