Former Chelsea boss Glenn Hoddle says Frank Lampard must focus on fixing his defence.

Valencia had 18 chances in their 2-2 draw at the Mestalla on Wednesday.

Hoddle told BT Sport: "Well the easiest one Valencia could have scored was in the first half was Maxi Gomes . He must have just taken his eye off the ball.

"There were too many spaces, with balls in behind. I think the approach has got to change, certainly at different times in the game.

"Early in the game, you don't want to give anything away, and then in the last few minutes, you have got Cesar Azpilicueta , who is playing right sided centre-back in a five, and is overlapping and not getting the ball, and them getting an unbelievable chance at the back to win the game, that's got to stop.

"I don't care what you say about entertainment, a better side, a more clinical side, would have punished them and would have beaten Chelsea without a doubt.

"And don't forget if those goals go in, that's when you are behind the eight ball, if you go two goals down you have then got to chase it a bit more and that's when you get picked off."
