Kalabakan, Tawau folks must back GRS for growth

TAWAU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) aims to win all State seats in Tawau and Kalabakan in the coming 17th State Election.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said residents in both parliamentary constituencies need to support the coalition to ensure no State constituency misses out on their representatives’ advocacy.

AdvertisementHe said the GRS-Pakatan Harapan (PH) Plus government under his leadership has a clear direction and major agenda for developing Sabah, including Tawau and Kalabakan.

“We have a big agenda for Sabah, we have direction, unlike the previous government which had no direction, only lies and slander here and there,” he said.

Also present were PHRS President, Brig Gen (Rtd) Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah, State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong, Tawau MP Datuk Lo Su Fui, Kalabakan MP Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy, Kukusan Assemblywoman Datuk Rina Jainal and Balung Assemblyman Datuk Hamid Awang.

He assured that the water supply issue would be resolved this year after all improvement works are implemented.

“I guarantee we can resolve it this year. We have allocation, our water treatment plant will be upgraded and repaired.

“Similarly with leaking pipes, we will repair them and we are not just making empty promises.”

Hajiji also announced the approval of applications for Tanah Perkampungan Iban, Merotai Besar and Kg Melati Burut to be gazetted as village reserves.

Additionally, he announced the approval of Solar Street Light Installation from Jambatan Putih to Sungai Udin, Merotai with an allocation of RM1.9 million, to be installed latest by April or May 2025.

He also announced the opening of Pekan Baharu Merotai at Kijang Point which houses 100 units of double-storey houses and 16 shop units already completed by the Housing and Urban Development Board (LPPB) and Perkasa Reality.

Also the construction of a hall for Merotai with an allocation of RM2 million.

At the same event, he presented land offer letters from the Land and Survey Department to 42 recipients from Kg Iban, Merotai.
