Tenom: The Kalimaran Cup Football Tournament organised by Sabah Football Association (Safa) Tenom is set to take place at the town field, here, March 30 - 31.
Safa Tenom Chief, Datuk Peter Anthony said the two-day tournament held in conjunction with the Kalimaran Festival celebration on March 31 is open to teams from Tenom.
“The tournament is divided into the men’s and women’s categories. The winning men’s team will receive a cash prize of RM5,000, second place RM2,000 and third place RM1,000 while consolation prizes for fourth and fifth place will each receive a prize of RM500.
“In addition, prizes will also be given to the best player, top scorer and best goalkeeper where each will receive a prize of RM200.
“For the women’s category, the winning team will receive a prize of RM3,000, second place RM1,500 and third place RM1,000 while fourth and fifth place will each take home a prize of RM500,” he said after chairing the organising committee meeting on Friday.
Peter, who is also Melalap Assemblyman, said the closing date is on March 25 and all managers and team leaders will be called to attend a briefing on the same day.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony will be held at Tenom Town Field on March 30 with performances from the district’s ethnic tribes as well as lucky draws for the attendees. There will also be a Contribution Cup match between the Safa Tenom committee and Tenom government officials.
