Bayern Munich star striker Harry Kane missed a penalty in the Bundesliga for the first time, but Michael Olise rescued the Bavarians in a 1-0 win at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Since his transfer from Tottenham in 2023, Kane had converted 24 out of 24 spot-kicks in the Bundesliga.

Previously, he had only missed two penalties in other competitions: this season in the German Cup against Wehen Wiesbaden and in the Champions League in January against Union Saint-Gilloise.

Bayern, however, still managed to take the three points home thanks to Olise, who unleashed a stunning curling effort from the edge of the box and into the net in the 56th minute.

Wolfsburg missed a huge opportunity to claim at least a point as Mattias Svanberg had only goalkeeper Jonas Urbig to beat but his shot in the 89th hit the post.

With one game left this season, Wolfsburg won't be able to leave the bottom three anymore, meaning that their only chance of staying in the Bundesliga is securing a spot in the relegation/promotion play-off spot.

They are tied on 26 points with St Pauli, whom they face in the decisive match next Saturday.

The result, however, was good news for Werder Bremen and Cologne, who are now safe from relegation.
