KarbonMRO denies a helicopter fire occurred at its Subang facility and says the Kamov Ka-32S involved was not among its customers.
PETALING JAYA: Aviation maintenance company KarbonMRO has denied that a helicopter caught fire at its facility at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, disputing an earlier account by the fire and rescue department.
The company also clarified that it has no connection with the Kamov Ka-32S helicopter involved in the incident.
KarbonMRO head of marketing Trixie Guantero said the incident did not occur at the company’s premises and that the helicopter was not among its customers.
“The incident did not take place at KarbonMRO’s facility, and the helicopter involved is not a KarbonMRO customer,” she said in a statement.
Guantero added that safety, accuracy and professional integrity were fundamental principles for the company as an aviation organisation.
Earlier, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said it received an alert about the incident at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport at about 12.30pm.
The department said four people, identified as Ukrainian nationals, managed to escape from the helicopter.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia said the helicopter caught fire while undergoing an engine ground run as part of maintenance work.
