The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a video message in Welsh for the first time to mark St David’s Day on Sunday (1 March), Kensington Palace said.

The video was recorded earlier in the week on the Windsor estate and comes after their visit to Llanidloes and Newtown.

In the video message, which is spoken entirely in Welsh, Kate and William are wearing daffodils on their lapels - the national flower of Wales.

Prince William says: “To everyone in Wales, a very Happy St David’s Day.”

Princess Kate adds: “Wales is very close to our hearts, and we look forward to every visit.”
