MANILA, Philippines — Filipino tanker Kayla Sanchez missed the podium by a hair in the 20th Asian Games women's 100m freestyle at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre in Japan Tuesday afternoon.
Sanchez clocked 53.65 seconds, just 0.18 seconds slower than bronze medalist Cheng Yukie of China who timed 53.17.
Siobhan Haughey of Hong Kong seized the gold medal with 52.45 seconds as Yu Yiting of China took the silver with 53.21.
Heather White, the other Philippine bet in the final, finished 10th and last with 56.01 seconds.
