The Youth and Sports Ministry is recruiting 500 volunteers aged 18 and above for the 2026 Malaysia F1 Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit.
PETALING JAYA: The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) is recruiting 500 volunteers for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix Malaysia 2026 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) from Oct 2 to 4.
Applications opened today and can be submitted online through the MyProfil System platform under the Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES).
Applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above, in good health and free from illness.
They must also be disciplined, trustworthy, able to work in a team, highly tolerant and possess good communication skills. Proficiency in a foreign language will be an added advantage.
“Selected volunteers will serve under the supervision of the National Youth and Sports Department (JBSN) through the Rakan Muda initiative,” KBS said in a statement today.
The volunteers will be assigned to four main areas: customer service; ticketing and admissions; guest relations and ushering; and management of the Marea.
KBS said the initiative would provide Malaysians, particularly youths, with hands-on experience in managing large-scale international events.
“The involvement of the community, particularly youths, in the international-standard Formula 1 event provides an opportunity for Malaysians to gain real experience in managing large-scale events and play an important role as Malaysia’s young ambassadors in engaging with local and international visitors,” it said.
The ministry said the initiative would also strengthen youth development through volunteerism and exposure to the management of international sporting events.
“It also serves as a platform to empower youth potential and development through volunteerism, leadership, communication, teamwork and exposure to the management of international sporting events,” it said.
The volunteer initiative was launched by Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari, accompanied by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol, KBS secretary-general Datuk Rahimi Ismail, JBSN director-general Azura Abidin and SIC chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif.
KBS urged interested youths who meet the requirements to seize the opportunity to join the volunteer team and contribute to the success of the Formula 1 event.
The initiative is also in line with KBS’ aspirations to empower youth and sports development under the Malaysia Madani framework, Malaysia Madani Youth Development Model 2030, Malaysia Youth Development Action Plan 2035 and National Sports Vision 2030.
