PENAMPANG: The cultural houses in Hongkod Koisaan KDCA need to be revived with various traditional performances on a daily basis to promote the ethnicities of the indigenous people of Sabah to domestic and foreign tourists.
Presenting the proposal, Dusun artiste, Datuk Francis Landong, said it does not meet the criteria if there are only cultural houses according to ethnicity but no content such as singing, dancing, traditional food and handicrafts displayed to visitors.
He stressed that the initiative can generate the economy not only of local artistes, but also dancers and traditional music players as well as handicraft traders.
“I hope that the KDCA leadership should emulate the efforts made by the Sarawak State Tourism Ministry where there is a cultural village that promotes the uniqueness of the various ethnicities of the indigenous people of the state,” he said.
