SEPANG, Aug 22 - KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) has allocated an additional RM240,000 to enhance cleaning operations at all venues for the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Selangor.
Its managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said that, in line with KDEBWM’s role as an official sponsor of the Games, the allocation will support various waste management operations, including additional manpower, rubbish bins, and waste collection.
“At all the venues where we are working with local authorities, agencies, and government-linked companies, there have been no problems at all. We had to add more workers, more rubbish bins, and increase collections.
“But that is all right because the last time we hosted SUKMA was 28 years ago. I am very happy to work together with the state government to ensure that all these venues remain clean,” he said.
Ramli was speaking at a media conference after the launch of the Selangor Recycling (SELKitar) Walk at Bandar Serenia today, which was officiated by the state executive councillor for public health and the environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
He added that through the additional allocation, KDEBWM has provided various additional requirements at high-traffic venues, including Stadium Selayang and Akuatik Selangor.
Ramli also commended the authorities for taking firm action and continuously monitoring irresponsible activities at competition venues, while visitors’ civic awareness also helped facilitate cleaning operations.
“I would like to thank the authorities for being so firm, as there are visitors who smoke carelessly at sports venues. We have also provided additional rubbish bins at most locations.
“In fact, the public is concerned when they see volunteers working and then throw rubbish into the designated bins. Alhamdulillah (God be praised), everything looks neat and tidy,” he said.
The SUKMA 2026 events are still ongoing, with several events being contested until the final day of the Games on Monday (July 24).
