KDM not a GRS component party: Armizan

Kota Kinabalu: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali has clarified that Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) is not a component party of the ruling coalition.

He said KDM became part of the Sabah State Government after the state election last November when its sole assemblyman pledged support to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Following an announcement by KDM's acting president regarding the party's withdrawal of support, Armizan said he contacted Paginatan assemblyman Datuk Rusdin Riman, who remains KDM’s only representative in the State Legislative Assembly.

According to Armizan, Rusdin stated that his commitment remains focused on serving his constituents and ensuring the stability of the State Government to continue development efforts for the people.

Rusdin was also seen attending a government assemblymen event in the state capital on Saturday morning.

Earlier, KDM acting president Priscella Peter announced that the party’s supreme council had decided to withdraw support for the GRS administration to pursue a new alignment under a proposed Borneo Bloc ahead of the upcoming general election.

Priscella stated that KDM does not intend to contest the polls alone and has held informal talks with local parties, not ruling out potential partnerships with Parti Warisan (Warisan) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star).
