PAPAR: Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) has decided to withdraw its support for the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government, paving the way to form a new alignment with local parties under a Borneo Bloc.
KDM acting president Priscella Peter said the decision was reached by the party’s supreme council during its annual gathering here on Saturday as part of preparations for the upcoming general election.
She noted that leaving the GRS administration was a difficult step, but necessary to demonstrate the party's direction and regain the trust of grassroots supporters following developments after the previous election.
Priscella explained that the move proves KDM is acting well ahead of time rather than waiting until parliament is dissolved or when elections arrive.
She stated that KDM will not contest the upcoming election alone and is exploring potential partnerships with local parties to champion Sabah’s voice and future generations.
When asked about potential allies, Priscella did not rule out Parti Warisan (Warisan) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star), though she stressed that no final decision has been made.
She added that the proposed Borneo Bloc remains in its early stages, with discussions among local parties currently limited to informal talks.
