PADANG Serai Member of Parliament Datuk Azman Nasrudin is expected to be brought to court on Monday to face corruption charges stemming from a state-linked cattle-farming joint venture in Kedah.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, confirmed that the lawmaker will be prosecuted. “He will be charged together with another individual,” he said briefly when contacted.
A report carried by Harian Metro on Saturday stated that a Member of Parliament had been detained by Kedah MACC the previous afternoon ahead of the expected prosecution, following the granting of consent from the Attorney General’s Chambers.
The case concerns a joint venture involving a state-owned cattle-breeding enterprise.
According to sources, investigators have been probing claims since February that approximately RM400,000 was received as an inducement to facilitate access to land designated for a feedlot project.
“An investigation paper was opened following a complaint received on 10 February, and investigations were carried out during which the statements of 15 witnesses were recorded,” the source said.
Azman has acknowledged that he was detained by MACC over the Kedah cattle-farming project. However, he questioned the authorities’ decision to recategorise him from a witness to an accused person.
He said he had previously attended the Kedah MACC office on 25 March as a witness to assist in inquiries into the Kedah Agro feedlot project, but later received an unexpected instruction to meet an investigating officer at the northbound Sungai Buloh Rest and Service Area. - December 6, 2025
