Keegan Bradley has had a tough time getting over his Ryder Cup loss in New York.

He claims he is still heartbroken after his disappointing captaincy last year. Now, he returns to New York for the US Open at Shinnecock Hills.

The fans in that part of the country may still be disappointed that Bradley led the team to their first loss on American soil in over a decade.

Bradley made some indefensible decisions during the week, including using the worst possible statistical pairing of Collin Morikawa and Harris English, not once but twice.

He had a solid opening day on the golf course, shooting an even par 70, and after his round, Bradley was asked how the New York fans treated him from behind the ropes.

Keegan Bradley hopes to make up for Ryder Cup loss at US Open

Bradley said it would be understandable if the New York fans were still upset with him after the Ryder Cup, but he said he didn’t get any criticism at all during his round.

The 2011 PGA Championship winner said he hopes to make up for the Ryder Cup by winning at Shinnecock.

He was asked if the sting from the Ryder Cup has gone away yet, and he replied, “No, that will be in my — I’ll be thinking about that for the rest of my life. I do feel like I owe New York one. Maybe I can give them something to cheer about this weekend.”

But when asked about his reception from the fans, Bradley said he can have no complaints: “It was great. I never know what to expect. I would understand if they were upset, but I didn’t get any of that. I haven’t really at all. I’m really thankful for that

“I just love playing here. I love playing Long Island. I love New York. I love their fans. It’s a real treat to be out here.”
