The USA picked up their second World Cup win of the summer on Friday when they clashed with Australia.

Thanks to that victory, plus Turkey failing to beat Paraguay, the USMNT are now guaranteed a spot in the Round of 32 despite still having one more Group D game to play.

The positive start has got fans excited, and American actor and comedian Keegan-Michael Key has now told Mauricio Pochettino’s squad that nobody can stop them.

Keegan-Michael Key says nobody can stop USMNT at World Cup

Speaking on Fox after the win over Australia, Keegan-Michael Key sent a very passionate message to the US players.

He said: “Here’s the thing. You saw what you did last week, you saw what you did today. We all believe in you.

“We all believe in you, and I know you believe in yourselves. Keep believing. I feel you can go as far as you want. There’s no one out there who can stop you. Only you can stop you, which means only you can succeed and move forward, and move forward, and move forward.

“Go team USA. I’ll tell you this right now, you got this. You got this.”

How likely are the USA to win the World Cup?

While the USA have enjoyed a winning start to the 2026 World Cup, they are yet to face off with any of the major sides at the tournament.

In turn, it is perhaps not surprising that Opta’s supercomputer, which updates after every game, does not rank them as one of the favourites.

France are currently named as the most likely team to win the World Cup, and are given a 15.37% chance of doing so.

The 2022 champions, Argentina, take second place at the time of writing (11.79% chance), followed by Spain (11.70%), England (11.56%) and Germany (6.26%).

The USMNT, meanwhile, are given a 4.58% chance of being crowned the 2026 World Cup champions.
