
- Keely Hodgkinson is due to run in the 800m semi-finals at the European Athletics Championships on Thursday.
- The semi-finals are due to get underway at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham at 12.10pm when the temperature is expected to reach 32C.
- The Met Office has issued an amber warning due to the “extreme heat” while Andy Burnham is chairing an emergency Cobra meeting on Wednesday.
- The Met Office has also advised the public about “avoiding any exercise between 11am and 3pm” on Thursday, but Hodgkinson is due to compete during this period of the day.
- Hodgkinson won her heat on Tuesday in front of her home crowd, and is aiming to book her place in the final when she takes to the track on Thursday.
