KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 — Kelana Jaya LRT services returned to normal at 10.25am today after a power supply disruption at Universiti station left a train stranded between Taman Jaya and Universiti stations, Rapid KL said.
The rail operator said the disruption began at about 9.28am, prompting passengers on the affected train to be transferred to a rescue train under established safety procedures.
“Passengers on the train were safely transferred to a rescue train at the location before being taken to a nearby station,” it said.
Rapid KL said the passengers subsequently continued their journeys on another train, with no injuries reported.
It said transferring passengers between trains is an established safety procedure when a train is stranded and unable to continue because of a technical fault or power disruption.
“This procedure was carried out based on an assessment of conditions at the location and only after safety aspects had been confirmed by the responsible operations team,” it said.
Alternative train services were also activated temporarily to reduce the impact of the disruption on commuters.
Rapid KL said its technical team was deployed to inspect and restore the affected system, with safety checks carried out before normal operations resumed.
“The train involved has been taken out of service and sent to the depot for further inspection and investigation to determine the actual cause of the incident,” it said.
Rapid KL apologised for the inconvenience and thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation throughout the disruption.
