Rapid KL resumed Kelana Jaya LRT services at 10.25am after a power disruption stranded passengers between Taman Jaya and Universiti stations.

PETALING JAYA: PETALING JAYA: Passengers travelling on the Kelana Jaya LRT line were left stranded midway through their journey this morning following a power supply disruption at Universiti station.

Following the incident, Rapid KL temporarily activated an alternative train service to minimise the impact of the disruption on passengers.

Services resumed as normal at 10.25am.

According to a statement by Rapid KL, the disruption occurred at 9.28am, causing a train to become stranded between Taman Jaya and Universiti stations.

The passengers were subsequently transferred from the affected train to a nearby standby train before being taken to the nearest station.

“Passengers were safely transferred to a standby train before they were transported to a nearby station. The transfer was carried out by operations personnel under close supervision to ensure passenger safety and controlled passenger movement throughout the process.

“No injuries were reported in the incident,” the statement said.

Videos shared on social media showed passengers stepping onto the tracks to reach the other train.

The transport operator also assured passengers that transferring passengers in such circumstances was part of its “established” safety procedures for handling stranded LRT trains.

The affected train has since been removed from service, while the incident is being investigated to determine the cause.
