
Kota Kinabalu: A group of 14 students and six lecturers from Keningau Vocational College (KVC) embarked on an educational and cultural trip to South Korea recently.
The “2024 Gaja! Korea 2.0 K-TVET Adventure” happened on September 11 to 20.
College director Nordin Akup said the programme was made possible through the ongoing collaboration between KVC and Seoul Technical High School, a partnership established in 2017.
He said he fully supports the initiative taken by these teachers and students between 16 and 20 years old in accelerating the transfer of skillsets related to the emerging technology.

Delegation leader and project coordinator Khalifa Affnan said they had the opportunity to visit prominent institutions, including Yonsei University, the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) under the auspices of Unesco, Seoul Technical High School, Seocho School of Cultural Arts and Information and Daedong Middle School.
He said students and teachers gained hands-on experience in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) learning, as well as participating in cultural activities and popular sports in South Korea.
“This is the first trip that I have coordinated since the pandemic and I hope to make it an annual program,” he said.
The six lecturers were Roseanne Nelson, Brenda Silah, Anita Yasin, Sydney Engelbert, Khalifa Affnan and PJ Ape, while the students were Laetitia Anwen Ng, Zein Bin Azmi, Craig Wilhem, Ad Azwanwell, Avy Chascy Teo, Angela Rusli, Audrey Georgina, Nadiirah Naquyyah, Danish Shah, Bevanny Adelia, Nur Dhaniyah Ag Musdi, Jericho Eleus, Jeovahn Pj Ape and Elisha Carmen Erick.
