KENINGAU: Keningau, together with Tenom, Tambunan and Nabawan, is making final preparations to host Reunion Kent 2026, which will bring together alumni of Maktab Perguruan Kent Tuaran from across Sabah at Bandukan Resort, Bingkor, on Oct 3.
The gathering is expected to provide an opportunity for former students and educators to reconnect, renew friendships and strengthen the alumni network while reminiscing about their days at the teacher-training college.
Organising Committee chairman Haji Yazid Haji Mohd Hasnan Tawik Mansai @ Charles said the final coordination meeting, held at the Bandukan Resort meeting room, was an important step in ensuring the event runs smoothly.
He said preparations focused on several key areas, including participant registration, guest reception, protocol, venue management, catering, programme activities and technical requirements.
“Reunion Kent 2026 is not merely a gathering of former students. It is an opportunity to revive the bonds among alumni who once shared the experience of learning and building the foundations of their careers as educators,” he said.
Yazid said the reunion would allow participants to catch up after years of pursuing their respective careers and responsibilities, exchange updates and reflect on their shared experiences.
He added that the event would also serve as an opportunity to appreciate the contributions of past generations of educators who had played a role in shaping the education sector.
According to Yazid, the involvement of the four districts demonstrated the spirit of cooperation and togetherness that remained central to the organisation of the reunion.
He expressed appreciation to committee members, volunteers and all parties supporting the preparations, saying their commitment was essential to ensuring the event was well organised.
“As joint hosts, we will do our best to welcome all participants. We hope every guest will not only enjoy the programme but also take home fond memories of the warmth and hospitality of Keningau,” he said.
Yazid said the organisers hoped Reunion Kent 2026 would strengthen connections among alumni while preserving the memories and friendships established during their time at Maktab Perguruan Kent Tuaran.
He described the reunion as a meaningful occasion for alumni to renew their bonds and celebrate their shared history.
“From Kent, we began; our memories we preserve, and our friendships we strengthen,” he said.
The event is expected to bring together alumni from different generations and locations, providing a platform for continued engagement and stronger relationships among former members of the institution.
With final preparations underway, the organising committee is working to ensure the reunion offers a welcoming and memorable experience for all participants.
