TAWAU: Two undocumented men were jailed nine months by the Magistrate’s Court for possessing 1,080ml of ketum water containing mitragynine.

Asdin Larongga, 30, and Mazlan Abdullah, 34, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Don Stiwin Malanjun to committing the offence in a house at Jalan Tanjung Batu, at 1.30pm on May 4.

They were charged under Section 30 (3) of the Poisons Act which is punishable under Section 30 (5) of the same Act which provides for a fine or up to RM10,000 or a jail term of up to four years, or both, on conviction.

The court heard Asdin and Mazlan were arrested during Ops Tapis.
