Arman Tsarukyan has built a reputation for staying in the spotlight even when he is not fighting. Through livestreams, interviews and social media, he continues to generate headlines across the MMA landscape.
In the last few days, that approach has again drawn attention after comments he made about Khabib Nurmagomedov.
His remarks suggested outside support behind Khabib’s success, something the former UFC champion has now publicly addressed.
Khabib Nurmagomedov denies Vladimir Putin helped build his gym after Arman Tsarukyan’s remarks

Tsarukyan appeared on the PBD Podcast last Tuesday, when he discussed how Russian authorities support elite athletes. He used Khabib as a key example during that conversation.
The UFC lightweight contender said: “Even Khabib, he got paid for his gym. Putin built for him a gym. For example, if you’re gold [medallist] and you want to build your own gym, they give you money to build your own gym.”
When pressed by Patrick Bet-David to confirm whether Khabib received that backing, Tsarukyan gave a direct response: “Yes.”
Those comments were quickly challenged by Nurmagomedov himself. Posting via Instagram, he issued a firm denial of the claim.
“This is absolutely not true. No one ever paid for my bills or built gyms for me,” ‘The Eagle’ wrote (via Championship Rounds).
Since retiring from competition, Khabib has remained a central figure in the sport through coaching.
He has continued his father’s legacy by guiding fighters at the highest level. For instance, Islam Makhachev’s rise has been closely anchored in his mentorship and structure.
At the same time, he has played a significant role in developing emerging talent. Usman and Umar Nurmagomedov are among those benefiting from his experience and leadership.
