Khairul Aming has called out an alleged attempt to mislead the public after a woman was found posting a fake dining reservation at Rembayung that was not operating on the stated day.
The incident came to light after the woman, believed to be a foreign national, shared a post on social media platform Threads last Friday seeking “dining companions” for a meal at Rembayung between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM. The post claimed that a table had been booked for eight people.
However, Khairul Aming later revealed that the reservation could not have been legitimate, as the restaurant is closed on Fridays. In a brief but pointed remark, he noted that while the booking was allegedly made for Friday, the restaurant does not operate on that day.
After the revelation, the woman’s attempt to find dining partners was effectively stopped.

Following the incident, Khairul Aming took to Threads to issue a wider warning about online reservation scams.
He urged customers not to upload uncensored screenshots of their booking confirmations, particularly those displaying names, dates and times, warning that such information could be misused by scammers to resell reservations.

He also advised the public to be cautious of individuals who frequently comment phrases such as “PM me, sis” on posts asking for available dining slots at Rembayung, noting that there was a high likelihood such accounts were linked to fraudulent activities.
“Let’s help each other,” he wrote, encouraging greater vigilance among social media users.
